PTIE Lehigh University Visit

On March 24, 2025, Dr. Rich Carter, Professor at Oregon State University and CEO of Valliscor, visited Lehigh University to share his expertise and insights. Throughout the day, Dr. Carter engaged with university leadership, discussing how the Promotion & Tenure – Innovation & Entrepreneurship (PTIE) initiative has supported institutions in successfully revising their promotion and tenure guidelines to better recognize and reward innovation and entrepreneurial activity.
RLI Conference
Lehigh University’s impact on research translation was prominently showcased at the 2025 Research Leadership Institute (RLI) conference, where Dr. Himanshu Jain and Dr. John Coulter played key roles in shaping national conversations on innovation and research leadership. Dr. Coulter, PI of Lehigh’s Research Translation AcceLUrator initiative and Chair of the ASEE Engineering Research Council, moderated sessions on the evolving graduate student environment and the financial management of faculty start-up packages, contributing to discussions on advancing research capacity and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Jain, co-founder of Pasteur Partners PhD (P3), brought valuable insights to a panel on graduate education and workforce development, emphasizing the importance of industry-aligned doctoral training. His contributions highlighted the Pasteur Partners PhD model as a pathway to innovation-driven research translation. Together, their leadership reinforced Lehigh’s commitment to bridging research and real-world impact. Their presence at RLI reflects the university’s growing influence in accelerating research translation nationwide.

3RVF Lehigh Participation
At the 2024 3 Rivers Venture Fair (3RVF), Michael Lehman played a pivotal role in supporting participants from Lehigh by providing expert coaching and guidance, helping them refine their pitches and prepare for impactful interactions with investors and industry leaders. National Science Foundation, Program Director's visit to Lehigh
Dr. Pradeep Fulay, Program Director for the Directorate for Technology and Partnerships at the National Science Foundation (NSF), visited Lehigh University on October 31, 2024, for a site visit. The ART team, comprising 17 members, including the PI, Co-PIs, and sub-team leads, shared updates on their efforts to accelerate research translation and discussed future plans. Lehigh's first cohort of ART STRP awardees presented their project milestones and societal impact objectives.
